The Folded Laundry Was Done. The Bulldog Had Already Moved In.
With wrinkled brow and big dark eyes, a brindle and white Bulldog sits squarely in a wicker laundry basket and looks up with a guilty expression. Clean clothes spill over the sides in gray, white and pale blue heaps, and more have been tossed across the floor beside him. His flat face and loose jowls give him a look of deep concern. In the background, a cluttered room holds a second basket, a cabinet and a coil of cords. We'll call him Winston, and he thinks the basket is his now.
Bulldogs are gentle, loyal dogs with a laid-back personality and a love of comfy spots. They tend to be calm, affectionate and a little stubborn, and they often enjoy lounging more than running. Their short noses and stocky build make them prone to overheating and breathing difficulty, so avoid heavy exercise in hot weather, and ask your vet about a healthy weight and how to care for their skin folds. A soft bed that gives him a snug place to rest will often be just as appealing as a basket, and a folded blanket can make it even more inviting.
Winston isn't getting out. He has the clothes arranged just as he likes them, and he plans to stay. Whoever planned to do the folding will have to negotiate, and it may take a few treats.
