A Basset Hound Turned the Hallway Into a Toilet Paper Wonderland

Streamers of toilet paper wind down the hallway and scatter in white scraps across the wooden floor, and Hank the tricolor Basset Hound sits right in the middle looking up with big, sad eyes. His long ears hang over his chest, his brown face is mournful and the tip of a torn roll lies behind him by the wall. Coats, a backpack and bags hang on hooks behind him, and the front door stands open to a bright room. He looks like a dog who has just realized the party is over.

Basset Hounds are patient, loving and sometimes comically stubborn dogs with a legendary nose and a sad, droopy face that hides a lot of humor. They were bred to hunt rabbits by scent, so they pick up smells easily, and a roll of paper can be a fun thing to pull and tear. They also tend to be loud and expressive, with a deep baying voice. Toilet paper is usually harmless in small amounts, but a lot of it can cause stomach upset, so tidy up and call your vet if your dog swallowed a large quantity. Keep the bathroom door closed, and offer a safe chew toy and some scent games to keep that nose busy. Because they have long backs, avoid making Bassets jump from heights.

Hank will get a damp cloth for his ears and a pat on the head. The hallway can be cleaned in a moment.
