The General Is Fierce and Fluffy, and Wears Pink Very Well
The general's ears are decorated with tiny gold tassels, which only adds to his air of command. A red Shiba Inu with a cream muzzle and bright, dark eyes meets us head on, his fox-like face calm and alert. His coat is pale pink silk stitched with golden vines, a wide gold sash runs diagonally across his chest and a cluster of medals sparkles at his heart. Heavy gold epaulettes sit on each shoulder, and the background is a haze of cream and pink scrollwork.
There is a touch of pride in the lift of his chin, and the cheek fluff gives him a friendly look. It is hard to be afraid of a general who looks like he could be bribed with a treat.
Shiba Inus are small, sturdy Japanese dogs with a fox-like face, a curled tail and a lot of independent spirit. They are clean and alert, and they bond closely with their families, though they can be aloof with strangers. They are strong-willed, so early socialization and consistent, reward-based training matter. A securely fenced yard and a leash are essential, as many Shibas love to explore. They shed heavily twice a year, and regular brushing helps with that. Talk to your vet about diet and exercise.
The general's medals are impressive, but his greatest achievement is looking this dignified in pink.
