A Tiny Astronomer Wears a Moon Hat and Studies the Planets
Little paws on the table, tiny moon on the hat, and a whole universe at his elbow. The Yorkshire Terrier astronomer has a silky steel-blue coat, a golden face and dark, serious eyes. His navy hat is embroidered with a gold crescent, and his blue velvet coat is scattered with gold stars and swirling vines. A lace cravat tumbles from his collar. Beside him, a brass orrery spins on a gilded stand, and behind it pink drapery and golden scrolls glow in the soft rococo light.
There is something endearing about such a small scientist posing so grandly. His chin is level, his brow is furrowed and his whole attitude says that he has calculated the orbit of every planet and every squeaky toy.
Yorkshire Terriers were bred in England to catch rats in mills, and they still carry a bold terrier spirit in a tiny body. They are lively, loyal and often quite confident, which makes early training and socialization helpful. Their long, silky coat benefits from daily brushing, or a shorter trim can make care easier. Because they are small, they can be hurt by rough play or long jumps, so supervision is a good idea. Dental care matters in small breeds, so ask your vet about brushing and checkups.
With so many stars on his coat, he may have found the brightest one of all. It is probably the one next to the treat jar.
