A Bulldog Huntsman Wears Green Velvet and Takes His Time
Out of the pastel mist comes the royal huntsman, wearing green and looking very sure of himself. The Bulldog's wide, wrinkled face is brindle and white, with soft folded ears and sleepy, thoughtful eyes. His coat is rich green velvet embroidered with golden leaves and fastened with round gold buttons, and a thick gold tassel dangles from the front of his waistcoat. A neat lace cravat sits under his chin, and golden scrolls frame the background.
The deep green is a bold choice against all those pinks, and it makes the dog's cream and brindle coloring stand out. The heavy jowls give him the look of a hunter who is fairly sure the hunt can wait until after lunch.
Bulldogs are known for being gentle, calm and affectionate, with a sturdy, laid-back temperament. They enjoy short walks and plenty of rest, and they often love being near their families. Their short muzzles mean they can overheat and struggle in warm weather, so avoid strenuous exercise on hot days, keep them cool and offer fresh water. The wrinkles on the face should be gently cleaned and dried to prevent irritation. Because Bulldogs can have breathing and joint concerns, regular check-ups matter, and your vet can advise on weight and care.
If the hunt is delayed, nobody at the palace will complain. The huntsman is in no hurry.
