A Tiny Yorkie King Fills a Great Chair with Royal Pride
He is small, but the chair is large, and the king makes it look just right. The Yorkshire Terrier has a silky blue coat, a golden-tan face and a little crown perched between his upright ears. His blue velvet robe, embroidered with gold leaves, is trimmed with white ermine speckled in black and spills over the carved wooden armrests. His small paws rest calmly on the arms of the chair, and behind him, pale draperies and a hazy column fill the background.
The scale is the joke and the charm. The chair is far too big for him, and the robe has so much fabric that he almost disappears into it, but his eyes are alert and proud.
Yorkshire Terriers are tiny dogs with huge personalities. They were first bred to hunt rats in English mills, and they still have a lively, determined spirit. They are loyal, bright and often very vocal, so early training helps. Their long, silky coat needs regular brushing, though many owners keep it short for easier care. Because they are so small, they can be hurt by falls and rough play, so watch them on furniture and around bigger dogs. Ask your vet about dental care, diet and regular checkups.
The king's rule is brief and clear. Every subject must pay tribute in the form of cuddles.
