The Boston Terrier Prince Wears His Sash and Mismatched Ears
One ear up, one ear sideways, and a prince's sash across the chest: it is a very cheerful portrait. The Boston Terrier has a brindle and white face with round brown eyes and a short, wrinkled muzzle. His navy velvet coat has a high collar embroidered with gold leaves, and a wide blue silk sash with a gold cord and tassels crosses his chest. A frothy white cravat fills the space at his throat. Behind him, grey drapery and a pale sky provide a hazy backdrop.
The mismatched ears give him lots of personality, and the gold cord and tassels add a touch of pomp that makes the scene even sweeter. One stands straight and the other flops to the side, like a prince who got dressed in a hurry but still looks wonderful.
Boston Terriers are friendly, lively and affectionate dogs, often called the American Gentleman because of their tuxedo-like markings. They usually enjoy people and make good apartment dogs with regular walks and play. Because of their short muzzles, they can overheat easily, so avoid hard exercise in hot weather and keep them cool. Their large eyes need gentle care, so ask your vet about checkups. Short, positive training sessions work well with this clever breed.
