The Scholar Cat Sat Down to Write One Very Important Sentence
The scholar has stopped mid-sentence. A round-faced silver tabby gazes out with huge amber eyes, striped like a tiny tiger in shades of pewter and cream. He wears a heavy black velvet robe and a modest white collar, and in one big paw he holds a long feather quill, its tip just touching the air. The background is nearly black, as if the candles have burned low and only his thoughts are still lit, and the night is young for a writer.
British Shorthairs are sturdy, dense-coated cats with famously round cheeks and a calm nature. Many are happy to sit beside you rather than on you, and they tend to be easygoing about busy households. Because they enjoy their food, portion control and daily play with a wand toy or puzzle feeder help keep them at a healthy weight. Their plush coats need only a weekly brushing for most of the year, a little more during shedding season. As with any cat, regular checkups matter, so talk to your vet about vaccines, dental care, and the right diet.
One can only guess what the great work is about. A treatise on sunbeams, maybe, or a long and serious chapter on why dinner should come earlier. Either way, the ink is still wet, the page is still waiting, and the cat is in no rush at all to finish.
