The Marquis Had the Biggest Ears at Court and Total Confidence
Those ears are the first thing you notice, enormous and wide, rising from the head like a pair of satellite dishes with a few wispy hairs on the tips. The Devon Rex marquis has pale yellow eyes and a slightly mischievous squint, a fine gray coat that looks almost like velvet, and a spectacular ruffled lace collar that frames his face like a blossom. His navy coat is embroidered with swirls of gold. The background is a swirl of dusky brown, and the marquis has clearly decided he is the most interesting thing in it, which is hard to argue with.
Devon Rex cats have short, soft, wavy coats and a pixie-like look, with large ears and high cheekbones. Owners often describe them as playful, people-focused, and a little bit clownish. They love to be up high, so shelves or a tall cat tree can make them very happy. Their fine coat gives less insulation than most cats have, so many enjoy warm spots and may seek out laps and blankets. Their ears can collect wax, so ask your vet how to check them safely. Like any curious cat, they do best with plenty of interactive play and attention.
As for the marquis, he looks as though he is about to leap onto the tallest bookshelf in the palace and survey his estate. The lace collar will stay perfect, naturally.
