The Huntsman Had a Golden Horn and Absolutely No Plans to Run

A brindle French Bulldog stares out with round dark eyes, bat ears pointing straight up and a crinkled brow that gives him a serious, slightly worried look. His forest green velvet coat is embroidered with golden leaves, topped with fringed gold epaulettes and a lace cravat, and a brass hunting horn on a gold cord rests against his chest. Behind him, painted roses and golden scrolls bloom on a pale pink wall, and soft pink silk curls in the background. It is a funny and lovable mix of grand uniform and grumpy little face.

French Bulldogs are friendly, funny companions that do well in apartments, but their flat faces mean they overheat easily. Keep exercise gentle, avoid hot or humid weather, and always provide fresh water and shade. Many Frenchies snore, snort, or wheeze, but labored breathing is worth a call to the vet. They are not strong swimmers, so supervise them near water. A harness is safer than a collar, and their face wrinkles should be cleaned and dried regularly. They love to be near their people and are often happiest curled up on a sofa beside them.

The huntsman blows his horn with great pride, though it is mostly a ceremonial item. Real hunts are exhausting, and he prefers a short stroll followed by a long snooze. The kingdom's foxes are safe, and so is its biscuit supply.
