A Tiny Knight Took the Castle Watch Very Seriously
Polished silver plate armor has never looked so fluffy. A small white Maltese peers out over a gleaming breastplate etched with leafy patterns, with rounded shoulder guards and a ruffled white collar peeking above the metal. A blue cloak embroidered with gold flowers is draped over one shoulder. His dark eyes are round and earnest, his ears are soft as cotton, and pale stone columns glow gently behind him. The slight crackle in the old paint makes the armor look like a family treasure passed down for generations, and he wears it as if it fit him perfectly.
Maltese dogs are among the oldest toy breeds, and they have long been companions to people who wanted a small, affectionate friend. They are alert and lively, and many make good watchdogs, announcing visitors with surprising volume. Their silky white coat has no undercoat, but it still tangles, so regular brushing and gentle bathing help keep it comfortable. Tear staining around the eyes is common in light-colored dogs, and wiping the area gently with a damp cloth can help. Small dogs also need dental care, so ask your vet about brushing teeth at home.
The knight looks completely convinced that he is guarding the castle. In truth, the greatest threat is probably a missing sock. Still, he holds the post with spotless dedication.
