The Queen Mother Frenchie Gave Everyone a Very Stern Look
A black lace veil falls over her bat-like ears and drapes to her shoulders in a delicate pattern of vines and flowers. This brindle French Bulldog looks out with deep brown eyes and a slightly furrowed brow, dignified and a little stern. She wears a black velvet gown trimmed with more lace and a long strand of pearls that loops across her chest. The gray-green sky behind her gives the whole portrait a hushed, serious mood, and the glossy black velvet seems to swallow the light. Only her pearls and her shiny nose catch the glow.
French Bulldogs are cheerful, people-loving companions, and they often do well in apartments because they do not need much exercise. Their short noses, however, make breathing harder in heat and during hard play, so shade, water, and slow walks matter. Many Frenchies snore, snort, and wheeze a little, but sudden labored breathing is a reason to call your vet right away. They also tend to have skin folds on the face that should be dried and cleaned gently. Keeping a Frenchie at a healthy weight makes everyday life easier on her breathing and joints.
The queen mother has seen it all, and she is not easily impressed. Yet one small pat on the head could probably melt that stern look. She would never admit it, of course.
