The Black Devon Rex General Earned Every Medal on His Chest

AI imagedevon rexgeneralbaroque portrait

The general's yellow-green eyes are wide and watchful, and his enormous ears are tuned to every sound in the camp. This black Devon Rex has a tight coat of fine curls, a small pink-gray chest, and a stern expression. His green velvet uniform is trimmed with thick golden fringe on the shoulders, a red sash crosses his chest, and a cluster of medals shines at his heart. A candle flickers at the left, lighting the amber haze behind him. His small, curled whiskers look like silver thread against the dark fur.

Devon Rex cats are lively, affectionate, and curious, and they love to be involved in whatever their people are doing. Their short, curly coat sheds little, but it does not make them hypoallergenic, so anyone with allergies should spend time with the cat first. Their skin can get oily, and their ears can build up wax, so gentle care helps. Devons love to leap to high places, so cat trees and perches are very welcome. They may also be a bit of a food thief, so keep the counters clear, and ask your vet about the right diet.

The general's medals may be shiny, but we suspect his proudest honor is a spot on your lap. He accepts all salutes with a slow, dignified blink. The campaign for belly rubs continues. Dark cats look best in gold, and this one knows it.
