The Marquis Looked Aside Just as the Servant Walked In
A tall ruffle of white lace bursts out from the neck of the marquis, who wears a deep plum velvet coat embroidered in gold along the lapels and a cream waistcoat. The sable Corgi has a brown and black face with a lighter chest, wide-set ears and thoughtful brown eyes, and he looks to the side as though a servant has just entered the room. Behind him, green damask wallpaper and a heavy teal curtain fill the frame, and the warm light brings out every thread of embroidery.
The sable coat on a Corgi is a rich mix of reddish-brown with black-tipped hairs, and it can look quite different from one dog to the next. Behind those fox-like looks is a sturdy, friendly herding dog. Corgis are food lovers, and it is easy for them to gain weight, which is hard on their short legs and long backs. A good trick is to measure meals and use part of the daily food as training treats. Many Corgis love to learn tricks, play fetch and join family walks, but they also need rest. Always check with your vet about what a healthy weight looks like, and provide ramps if your dog uses the sofa or the bed.
The marquis has been kept waiting, and so has dinner. Both matters are under his careful consideration.
