The Tuxedo Marquis Dressed for Dinner and Dinner Was Late
Few cats are better dressed than a tuxedo, and this one is dressed even better than usual. The black and white face has a perfect white blaze, a pink nose and golden-yellow eyes, and around the neck billows an enormous white lace ruff. Below it is a dark brown velvet coat embroidered with leaves in black and gold. A glow of candlelight appears at the left edge, and it brings out the dark shine of his black fur and the crisp white of his chest. His expression is formal, composed and just a little proud.
Tuxedo is a coat pattern and not a breed, and tuxedo cats appear among many domestic cats, with black and white markings that look like a formal suit. Owners often describe them as friendly, playful and outgoing, but again, personality varies cat by cat. Black fur can look rusty or brownish in strong sunlight, which is normal. Like all cats, tuxedos need fresh water, a clean litter box, safe places to climb and regular play. Many shelters have tuxedo cats waiting for homes, and they are a good choice for adopters. When bringing a new cat home, give him a quiet room first, with food, water and a litter box, and let him explore at his own pace.
The marquis has dressed for dinner, and dinner is, as it happens, very late.
