The Queen's Crown Was Heavy With Jewels, but Her Gaze Was Soft
A jeweled crown with sapphires, rubies, and a pearl on top sits above the silky black and white ears of a Havanese queen. Her fur parts over soft brown eyes, a pale mustache of white hair frames her little black nose, and a cape of white ermine with black flecks rests on her shoulders. A gold brooch with a red stone and pearls pins the cape, and the gold brocade beneath it glints in the candlelight. A single candle burns steadily at the left edge, and the brown curtain behind her glows warm.
Crowns are tricky to paint, because every jewel needs its own tiny highlight. Here the painter dotted each stone with a bright spot of light, so the crown looks truly metallic, while the soft fur of the queen is painted with long, loose strokes.
Havanese dogs are small, sturdy companions from Cuba, known for their friendly, playful nature and silky, wavy coats. They often love being near people and may follow their family from room to room, which also means they can struggle with long periods alone. Their coat needs brushing a few times a week to prevent tangles, or a shorter trim for easier care. They are quick learners and usually enjoy training games. Ask your vet about dental care and diet for a small breed.
This queen's reign is gentle, and her only law is that every lap in the kingdom must be available on request.
