Two Fluffy Chihuahua Puppies Sat on a Hay Bale and Didn't Move a Muscle
Side by side on a scratchy bale of straw, two fuzzy black and tan puppies sit as still as tiny statues, gazing up with round, glossy eyes. Their coats are soft and a little tousled, with tufts of longer fur poking out around the ears, and each has neat tan eyebrows that make them look permanently curious. Behind them, a weathered stucco wall, a green watering can, and a terracotta pot of succulents set a rustic, sun-warmed scene.
Those fluffy little coats hint at something many people don't realize: Chihuahuas come in two coat varieties, smooth and long. Smooth-coated Chihuahuas have short, glossy fur, while long-coated ones grow soft, feathery hair on the ears, legs, chest, and tail as they mature. Long-coat puppies often look fuzzy rather than flowing at first, with the full coat filling in over time. Both types are generally easy to groom. Smooth coats usually need only a quick weekly brushing, while long coats benefit from a bit more attention to prevent tangles behind the ears and on the legs. Either way, both kinds of Chihuahua can feel the cold, so a warm spot is always appreciated.
These two seem perfectly comfortable on their straw throne, though the hay is probably tickling a few tiny paws. They've clearly agreed to stay close, shoulder to shoulder, the way littermates often do.
Small dogs, big eyes, and a hay bale that has never looked more charming.
