A Little Red Wagon Parked in the Living Room, and Two Passengers Ready for a Parade
A classic red wagon, its handle tipped up and its paint a little scuffed, has been parked in the middle of the living room with a gray blanket folded inside. Two fluffy black and tan puppies sit on top, looking ready for a parade. The pup in front faces forward with round, shining eyes and a fringe of soft fur around his ears, while his sibling turns to the side, gazing toward something off in the distance. A wicker basket of folded towels, a trailing houseplant, and a tote bag hanging by the door complete the homey scene.
A wagon ride might be the most exciting trip these two take for a while, but a trip to the vet will be one of the most important. Puppies need a series of vaccinations in their first months, along with checkups, deworming, and advice on parasite prevention. Early vet visits are also a chance to ask about microchipping, spaying or neutering, nutrition, and dental care. Many Chihuahuas have a soft spot on the top of the skull, called a molera, which is common in the breed, and your vet can check it and explain what to keep in mind. Bringing treats and staying calm helps make these first visits a positive experience.
For now, though, the only appointment on the calendar is a slow roll across the living room floor, and both passengers seem very much on board.
