Three Black and Tan Pups Claimed the Bicycle Basket as Their Carriage
A wicker bicycle basket makes a lovely carriage for three black and tan Dachshund puppies. They are squeezed shoulder to shoulder with paws on the rim, shiny coats glowing and tan eyebrows raised. The handlebar curves in at the left, and behind them is a messy corner with a plant, some laundry and a pair of slippers on the floor.
Black and tan is one of the classic Dachshund coat colors, and it shows off the breed's expressive faces perfectly. Those tan dots above the eyes seem to double the amount of expression a puppy can show. Riding in a basket might look sweet, but if you ever travel with a dog on a bike, safety comes first. Use a secure carrier or trailer designed for pets, never an open basket on a moving bike, and always check the weather and surface. For short trips with small puppies, a car seat or a carrier that buckles in is a better choice. Puppies also need frequent breaks, water and a chance to stretch their legs, and a vet can advise when they are old enough for outings.
For the moment, this bike is parked and the passengers are entirely content. There is room for one more puppy, but no one has volunteered to move over. The handlebar makes a fine lookout post, and every tiny face is turned toward whatever happens next.
