Two Chocolate Lab Puppies Stood Guard in the Row of Rain Boots
On a mudroom shelf lined with rain boots in navy, olive, yellow and burgundy, two chocolate brown Labrador Retriever puppies sit up in their boots like sentries. Their fur is scruffy and soft, and warm light from the side makes their coats glow. The one on the left tilts his head and looks off into the distance, while his brother seems to be watching someone approach.
Labs are often described as the ultimate family dog. They're affectionate, social and good with children when properly trained and supervised. They are also powerful chewers, and boots are right at the top of the list of temptations. Rubber, laces and insoles can be dangerous if swallowed, so shoes should be kept out of reach. A puppy's teething can last for months, so offer chew toys designed for puppies, and trade boots for toys gently. Rainy days call for a bit of extra care with a Lab, as they love puddles and mud. Dry them well with a towel and check between their toes. Starting good habits early, such as sitting before going out the door, will make wet-weather walks easier. Your vet can suggest the right exercise for your puppy.
These two seem to have taken their posts very seriously. The boots are polished, the puppies are in place, and the day can begin.
