Three Bernese Puppies Raced Across the Lawn After a Butterfly
Three Bernese Mountain Dog puppies come bounding across a green lawn with their ears flying and tongues out. The one in front has the biggest smile, a second follows right behind, and the third trots at the back with its white-tipped paws pounding the grass. A small orange butterfly flutters near the fence, drawing their attention. Warm evening light slants across the yard.
Chasing butterflies is a natural puppy activity, and it is good exercise in a safe, fenced yard. Because Bernese puppies are growing large frames, short bursts of play with rest breaks are better than hours of running. Hard surfaces and slippery floors are tough on young joints, so soft grass is a better place to play. Always make sure the yard is secure before letting puppies chase anything.
Bernese Mountain Dogs are typically gentle and good-natured, and they enjoy being outdoors with their families. They are not especially high-energy dogs compared with some breeds, but they like a daily walk and time to romp. Their thick coats are happiest in cool weather, so play in the shade on warm days and always provide water.
The butterfly stays just out of reach, which suits everyone fine. The chase is the fun part, and the puppies are enjoying it completely. By the time the butterfly drifts away, they will be happily panting on the grass, ready for a drink and a rest in the shade.
