Two Puppies Disappeared Into a Giant Cozy Blanket
Wrapped in a thick cream-colored knit, two dark puppies have found the coziest corner of the living room. One pup looks up with a gentle, curious expression, his tan eyebrows lifted, while the second rests his chin on the wool with eyes closed. The chunky stitches make a nest around them. In the soft window light behind, a mug, a plant, and a rolled-up toy sit on a worn wooden floor.
Puppies love burrowing into blankets, and there is a reason. Dogs descend from animals that dug dens to feel safe, and soft, snug spaces still help them relax. A washable blanket in the pup's bed gives comfort and a familiar smell. Choose tightly knit fabric when you can, though, because loose, chunky yarn can catch tiny claws and teeth, and swallowed strands are dangerous. If a puppy chews at its blanket, swap it for a sturdier bed and ask your vet for advice.
Golden Retriever puppies often show a darker coat when they are very young, and their color may lighten or change as they grow. What does not change is their sociable nature. Pups like these usually do well with company and gentle handling from the start. Short, calm cuddle times like this also help a puppy get used to being handled.
Two warm bodies, one big blanket, and a golden afternoon. There is hardly a better recipe for a lazy day.
