Four Puppies Sat Down in the Tall Grass and Looked Straight at Us
Tall summer grass is the perfect hiding place for four puppies, though they are not hiding very well. Two chestnut-colored pups and two darker chocolate ones huddle in a tight cluster with ears draped and noses almost touching. A pup at the top peers out toward the side, another stares at us with glowing amber eyes, and the two in front watch with calm curiosity. A house wall and a wooden fence stand out of focus behind.
A grassy yard is full of things puppies want to investigate, but it also holds some hidden hazards. Tall grass can carry seeds that catch in fur and ears, plus fleas and ticks that need regular checks and prevention. Make a habit of running your hands over your pup after outdoor play, and talk to your vet about parasite protection that suits your area. Fresh water and shade are essential on warm days, too.
Golden Retriever litters can show a range of reds and browns when they are very young, and their coats often change as they mature. The friendly, patient temperament, however, tends to remain a constant, and that is a big reason these pups are so popular family dogs.
Four small heads in the grass make a tidy little group portrait. Whatever the breeze is carrying, they are all paying attention.
