Three Spotted Puppies and One Ball of Yarn Went Very Differently Than Planned
A ball of cream yarn has unrolled across the floor, and three spotted puppies are right in the middle of it. The black-and-white pup on the left rests one paw on the yarn with a keen, focused look. The caramel-and-white pup in the middle leans in with an open mouth, and the third on the right gazes in, wearing the very picture of innocence. Strands trail across the floorboards, and a gray blanket and a potted plant frame the scene.
Yarn and string are classic playthings, but they can be dangerous for pets. If a puppy swallows a strand, it can cause a serious intestinal problem that needs urgent veterinary care, so never leave string, yarn, or ribbon within a pup's reach unattended. A rope toy or soft plush made for dogs gives the same pulling fun with less risk. If you suspect a pup has swallowed string, call your vet right away.
Cocker Spaniels tend to be cheerful and social, and they often do best with company and a lively routine. Group play is also a wonderful way for puppies to learn manners from each other. Rotating a few safe toys keeps them interested and helps protect the household knitting.
Whoever was planning to knit a sweater may need to start again. Three unraveling puppies are very sure the yarn belongs to them now.
