Three Black Puppies Met Their First Snow and Went Bounding Off
The first snow has arrived, and three black puppies are loving every flake. White specks dust their noses, ears, and backs, and their tongues loll out as they bound across the yard. One pup at the left lifts a paw and looks out with a curious face, another on the right trots forward with a happy grin, and the third dips his head low in the middle. A wooden fence, bare shrubs, and a snow-covered lawn spread out behind them.
Snow is a joyful experience for a puppy, but young dogs and cold weather need some care. Short outings are best, and it helps to dry your puppy afterward, especially his paws and long ears. Salt and de-icing products can irritate paws, so wipe them off before your pup licks them. Shivering, lifting paws, or reluctance to move are signs it is time to head inside.
Cocker Spaniels have silky coats that can collect snowballs between the toes and under the belly. Trimming the fur around the paws and brushing out icy clumps keeps your pup comfortable. A cozy bed indoors and fresh water are the perfect finish to a snowy romp. If you have concerns about cold weather and a young puppy, talk to your vet.
Black fur and white snow make a striking pair, and three happy faces complete the picture.
