Four White Puppies Gathered by the Pond as the Light Faded
As the evening settles in, four white puppies have gathered near a small garden pond. Two sit at the back with their ears tilted, looking in different directions, while the two in front lean close with curious, slightly worried eyes. Their white coats are lightly spotted with soil, and the dark water behind them reflects the dusk. Grass, reeds, and fallen leaves line the bank.
Ponds fascinate puppies, but the edges are slippery and dangerous for such small dogs. A tiny Maltese can slip into deep water and have trouble climbing out, so always supervise or fence off ponds. Standing water may also contain algae and germs that can make dogs sick, so discourage drinking from it, and talk to your vet if a pup seems unwell afterward.
White coats show dirt easily, and Maltese hair tangles when it gets damp. After an outing, gently wipe paws and legs, dry the fur with a soft towel, and brush out any tangles. Regular brushing and baths help keep the coat in good shape. Start with short, supervised visits to the yard and keep a towel handy. Puppies learn quickly that a little caution goes a long way, and a leash or a low fence gives you extra peace of mind near open water.
The four pups seem to agree that the pond deserves some serious attention. They are keeping a safe distance, and that is very wise.
