Five Wide-Eyed Puppies Looked Out Over the Edge of the Basket

A round basket has become a puppy nest. Five white faces look out from the woven rim, each with dark, shiny eyes and a black button nose. The pup at the top center stands tallest with ears flared, the two on the sides lean outward, and two more peer from the front, noses lifted over the edge. Behind the basket, a gray couch, a blanket, and a potted plant fill the cozy room.

Puppies like the snug sides of a basket, which feel like a safe den. Wicker is popular, but chewing puppies can break off and swallow pieces, so check the basket regularly and keep a soft blanket inside. A pup that likes to nibble the basket needs more chew toys. Use baskets only for short, supervised rests, and choose a washable bed for long naps.

Maltese pups are playful and curious, and they are usually happiest when they are close to people. They also tend to be small enough to get stuck or hurt easily, so supervise them around furniture and stairs. A quiet time in a cozy spot after play helps them recharge, and short, frequent meals suit their tiny tummies. Offering water after play keeps them comfortable.

Five curious faces pop over the edge, as if checking whether anyone is bringing a snack. It's a very hopeful basket.
