Frank and Dottie Found the Perfect Bench by the Ocean. Biscuit Approved.
The ocean shimmers beyond the weathered boardwalk railing, and a sandy beach stretches off into the haze. On a wooden bench near the dunes, Frank and Dottie sit snuggled together in their cream cable-knit sweaters, Dottie leaning her head on Frank's shoulder while he grins with his arm around her. Biscuit sits right in front of them with his mouth open in a broad, happy pant, his brown collar visible against his fluffy white chest. Behind the bench, a gray picket fence, potted plants, a blue watering can, and garden tools tell of a beach cottage that gets plenty of love.
Seaside strolls are wonderful for dogs, but a few beach-day basics help keep them safe. Bring fresh water and a bowl, since dogs that drink salt water can get sick. Hot sand and boardwalk planks can burn sensitive paw pads in summer, so test the surface with your hand first. Corgis have short legs and long backs, so they may tire on soft sand more quickly than you'd expect, and they may need help with tall steps up to the boardwalk. After the outing, rinse off salt and sand, which can irritate skin, and dry their ears well.
Frank and Dottie have the ocean breeze and each other, and Biscuit has the best seat in the house. It's the kind of afternoon that makes a beach town feel like home.
