Harold and Bev Started Slow Dancing by the Sink. They Had a Witness.
No music is needed when you've been married this long. Harold and Bev sway together in the middle of their warmly lit kitchen, wrapped in a close embrace, their matching cream cable-knit sweaters blending into one cozy shape. Bev's eyes are nearly shut with happiness, and Harold grins down at her through his glasses. On the tile floor at their feet, Duchess the seal point Ragdoll sits tall with her big fluffy tail curled high, gazing up at them with bright blue eyes. A few tufts of loose fur drift across the floor, and the counters behind them hold a fruit bowl, mugs, and a dish towel hanging from the drawer.
Cats often want to be included in their people's affection, and many will come running when they sense a hug or a happy moment in the room. A tail held high, like Duchess's, is commonly read as a friendly, confident greeting. Ragdolls in particular tend to be social and like to be near the action. Speaking of those fur tufts, semi-longhaired cats shed, and regular brushing helps keep the floors and sweaters cleaner. It also lets you check the skin and coat for anything unusual. A slicker brush or wide-toothed comb used gently a few times a week is usually enough.
Duchess may not know the steps, but she knows a happy kitchen when she sees one. Harold and Bev wouldn't want their dance without her in the audience.
