The Rain Wouldn't Stop All Afternoon. Grandpa Ken and Mochi Found the Perfect Spot.
Rain pours steadily beyond the porch roof, soaking the garden beds and turning the path to shining puddles. Under cover, Grandpa Ken sits in his brown knit sweater vest and blue plaid shirt, round glasses on, gazing thoughtfully out at the downpour. Mochi sits snug in his arms, her fluffy cream coat dry and soft, her chin lifted as she watches the rain with the same calm attention. Rubber boots stand by the edge, a hanging plant drips at the corner, and fallen autumn leaves are scattered across the wet boards.
Many small dogs are not fans of getting wet, and Havanese are no exception for some individuals. Their long, silky coat can hold onto moisture and debris, so after a walk in damp weather it is a good idea to towel them off thoroughly and brush out any tangles before they set into mats. Some owners use a light raincoat for small dogs during wet seasons. Storms can also make some dogs anxious, especially sensitive breeds. Staying close, as Ken is doing, offering a cozy spot, and keeping your own mood calm can help a nervous dog feel more secure.
Mochi, at least, seems perfectly content. With Ken's arms around her and a dry seat to watch from, the rain is just part of the scenery.
There is a special peace in a rainy afternoon when you are warm, dry, and holding someone you love.
