Ruth Spread Out the Old Photographs and Bruno Leaned In to Study Them
Dozens of old black-and-white photographs lie spread across the table, and Ruth leans over them with a gentle, thoughtful smile, her glasses resting on top of her silver hair and a finger touching one of the pictures. She wears a moss green cardigan over a gray top, and her expression is a mix of fondness and memory. Bruno has laid his chin on the table's edge and is giving the photographs a serious sniff, his brow furrowed, his dark eyes cast down as though he is reading them. A lamp glows in the background beside a drinking glass and a few small keepsakes on a side table.
Looking through old photographs is a meaningful way to spend an afternoon, and many people find that it brings back stories worth sharing. Having a pet nearby can make the quiet time feel warmer. Dogs experience the world largely through scent, so it is no surprise that Bruno wants to investigate, but old prints can be fragile and a wet nose can damage them. Keeping photographs in sleeves or an album protects them. A dog bed near the table gives him a place to settle, and a treat toy keeps a curious nose busy while Ruth looks through her memories at her own pace.
Bruno cannot tell who is in any of the pictures, but he listens to every story anyway. Ruth has plenty to say, and he has all afternoon.
