Grandpa Tucked the Silver Cat In With a Soft Knit Blanket
Smoky lies curled in a big gray cushioned bed with her silver tail wrapped around her body, her golden eyes looking up at Harold. Harold leans over her with a gentle smile, tucking a cream knit blanket around her shoulders. A potted plant, a basket of laundry, and an old sofa sit behind them, and a ball of blue yarn rests on the wooden floor. It is a slow, tender moment at the end of the day.
Cats love snug, enclosed spaces, and a round bed with raised sides gives a cat a feeling of safety. Maine Coons are big, but they often seem to enjoy curling into a space that holds them in. A warm, soft blanket helps in cooler rooms, and washing it regularly keeps it fresh. Place the bed in a quiet spot away from drafts and busy foot traffic, and consider a few different beds in places where she likes to nap. Check for loose threads on knitted blankets, since cats can catch claws or chew on yarn, which can be harmful if swallowed. If your cat is sleeping much more than usual or has trouble getting into her bed, mention it to your vet.
By morning the blanket may have been moved a bit, but the thought is still lovely. A tucked-in cat is a happy cat, and Harold knows just how to do it.
