A Cream Chihuahua Met a Baby Goat Its Own Size. The Greeting Was Perfect.
A careful sniff, a pause, and then the gentlest touch of noses. A cream long-haired Chihuahua with big dark eyes stretches forward to meet a fluffy white baby goat, who leans in with ears perked and tiny horn buds just showing. The two are nearly the same size, which makes the greeting feel like a meeting of equals. Behind them, a lived-in living room tells its own story: a leopard-print throw on the sofa, a rope toy and sneakers on the floor, a water bottle and a pile of laundry spilling from a basket.
Sniffing noses is a common way for many animals to gather information about each other, and a calm, slow approach like this one is usually a good sign. When introducing a dog to a new animal, let them meet on neutral ground if possible, keep the dog on a leash, and allow short sessions that end on a positive note. Watch for stiff posture, raised hackles or a fixed stare, which can signal tension. Chihuahuas are tiny but often bold, and while they can be loyal and affectionate, they may be wary of newcomers. Even a baby goat can accidentally hurt a small dog with a playful head butt, so supervision matters on both sides.
First impressions count, and this one looks very promising. With a meeting this sweet, these two may be inseparable by the end of the week.
