Nobody on This Bed Is in a Hurry to Get Up, Especially the Tiny One

Morning light sneaks in through the window, but nobody on this bed is in a hurry to get up. A huge red and white Saint Bernard rests its big head on a rumpled pink and cream quilt, brown eyes just barely open and that classic droopy expression firmly in place. Burrowed into the folds of the blanket beside it, a tiny brown and white baby goat peeks out with sleepy eyes, cozy and content. A wicker basket of laundry, a potted plant and soft pillows complete the lazy, early-morning feel.

Saint Bernards are gentle, steady dogs that often love to lounge, which makes them excellent snuggle companions, though their sheer size means they take up most of any bed. Because of their heavy build, they benefit from a supportive, orthopedic dog bed of their own, especially as they age, to help protect their joints. They also tend to overheat, so a cool room and plenty of fresh water help. Baby goats are usually raised outdoors with shelter and herd mates, and while they may enjoy indoor snuggles, they need proper space, care and a goat-appropriate diet as they grow.

Eventually, someone will have to make this bed, and that someone will probably need help moving a very heavy, very sleepy dog. For now, it belongs to one enormous dog, one very small goat and a quilt that has never been cozier.
