Laundry Day Got Cancelled the Moment the Doodle and Clover Found the Basket
Laundry day has been officially cancelled. The wicker basket was supposed to hold freshly washed towels, but a curly red Goldendoodle and a sleepy white lamb have moved in and made it their bed. The doodle rests his fluffy chin on the rim with soft, half-lidded eyes, while Clover the lamb snuggles against his side, eyes nearly closed and ears relaxed. Warm window light spills over the towels, and in the background the floor is scattered with clothes, a potted plant, and a pair of gray slippers waiting by the basket.
Pets are drawn to laundry for good reasons. Warm, freshly dried fabric is soft and cozy, and worn clothes carry the familiar scent of their favorite people, which many animals find comforting. It is a sweet habit, but a few precautions help. Always check the dryer and washing machine before running them, since small pets sometimes climb inside warm appliances. Keep detergent pods, dryer sheets, and fabric softener out of reach, because they can be harmful if chewed or swallowed. Giving your pet a washable blanket of their own, perhaps one that smells like you, can satisfy that craving for a soft nest.
Of course, nobody here seems interested in a blanket of their own. The basket is warm, the towels are soft, and the best friend is right there. Folding can definitely wait until they wake up.
