A Chocolate Dachshund Puppy Curled Up Against a Resting Pony
Under a tree hung with small red apples, a tan pony lies resting with her head low and eyes closed. Tucked against her front legs, a chocolate Dachshund puppy has laid down his long body, wearing a bright blue collar. Their heads rest side by side in the grass, and the soft evening light catches the pony's pale mane. Behind them a wooden fence and garden tools suggest a quiet backyard.
We might call the pony Clover and the puppy Peanut. Peanut is tiny beside her, and he fits perfectly in the curve of her leg, as if it had been built for him.
Dachshunds are small hounds with long backs and short legs, and they tend to be curious, brave and a little stubborn. Their backs need care, so avoid letting them jump from high places or climb many stairs, and keep them at a healthy weight. Ponies are gentle herd animals that often rest lying down, and many enjoy the company of a small friend. Apples are a favorite treat, but offer them in small, cut pieces and keep fallen fruit away from dogs, since fermented apples and seeds can cause trouble. If your animals share a shaded spot, check that the ground is dry and that no one can be stepped on.
Clover and Peanut look like two creatures who have nowhere better to be.
