A Rottweiler Puppy Took the Lead Through the Wildflower Meadow
The Rottweiler puppy leads the way through a meadow of daisies and clover, his pink tongue out and his tan eyebrows lifted. A shaggy gray pony in a simple halter follows a little behind, her head lowered and her forelock bobbing. The rope between them is slack, and a wooden fence and rustic buildings glow in the evening light behind the flowers. Petals brush the pony's knees, and the whole field smells of summer.
We might call the pony Clover and the puppy Bruno. Bruno walks like the proud leader, and Clover follows calmly, as if she trusts his sense of direction completely.
Rottweiler puppies are sturdy, loyal and confident, and they need early socialization and consistent, kind training to grow into well-mannered adults. Because they will become large, strong dogs, teaching loose-leash walking from the start is a good habit. Ponies are calm herd animals that follow a leader, and a halter and lead rope should always be used correctly by a handler. A puppy cannot actually lead a pony, so adult supervision matters on any outing. Before walking through a meadow, check for burrs, ticks and plants that can be harmful to animals, and talk to your vet about tick and flea protection.
Bruno and Clover make a charming team, one step after the other through the flowers. The meadow has never looked so friendly.
