A Maltese Puppy and a Pony Woke Up Side by Side Under the Quilt
Morning light filters through a sheer curtain onto a rumpled floral quilt. A white Maltese puppy lies on the left, with dark button eyes looking up and tiny ears relaxed, while a shaggy brown pony rests her head on the bed beside him, her eyes soft and sleepy. A mug, a basket and a folded blanket sit nearby. The quilt is wrinkled in every direction, proof of a good night.
We could call the pony Clover and the puppy Snowflake. They seem to have woken at the same moment, and neither is in a hurry. Snowflake is barely the size of Clover's nose, yet he lies as close as can be. The two look like they could happily stay put until noon.
Maltese puppies are playful, gentle and tiny, and they usually weigh only a few pounds when grown. Their long, silky coat needs regular brushing, and tear stains around the eyes can be wiped gently with a damp cloth. Small dogs can be injured easily by big animals, so any meeting with a pony should be calm and supervised. Dogs and horses can be friends, but keep things relaxed and make sure the puppy has a safe place to retreat. As with any bedtime pet, wash blankets regularly and keep fabric tidy so paws do not get tangled.
Snowflake and Clover are ready for a slow, quiet morning.
