The Golden Retriever Took Piglet Bath Time Very Seriously
The morning wash is underway, and the groomer takes it very seriously. A light cream Golden Retriever lowers his big, soft face to a small pink piglet and gives her snout a slow, careful lick. The piglet sits patiently, eyes half closed, ears relaxed, accepting it like a seasoned customer. Behind them, an open door lets in daylight, with a basket of laundry and a pair of sandals by the wall.
Golden Retrievers are known for their gentle mouths. They were bred to carry game without damaging it, so many of them are tender and careful with things in their mouths, and they often show a nurturing side toward smaller animals. Licking is a normal bonding behavior in dogs, a way of showing care. Still, it is good to keep an eye on grooming sessions, since a pig's skin is delicate and a dog's tongue can be rough. Make sure the piglet has her own clean space and fresh water, and ask your vet about any concerns with skin or hygiene.
Let's name the piglet Pearl. She has the calm look of someone who knows she is being looked after. The Retriever keeps going behind her ears and over her nose, as if every last speck has to be sorted out. By the time he is done, she will be the cleanest piglet in the yard, and probably the sleepiest too.
