A Ruby Cavalier and Five Kittens Sat in a Perfect Row on the Steps
On the weathered blue steps of an old porch, a ruby Cavalier King Charles Spaniel sits with perfect posture. His long, wavy ears glow copper in the light, and his dark eyes look into the distance with a thoughtful air. At his feet, five kittens are pressed together: an orange one, a grey tabby, a black and white one, a cream one, and a calico lounging across the step. A lantern glows on the wall and a pair of boots sits to the side.
Cavalier King Charles Spaniels are famous for their warm, gentle personalities, and they tend to get along with other animals, especially when raised together. They love company and do best when included in family life. Their long ears need regular brushing, and their coats should be kept clean. Porch steps are a good lookout spot, but they can be dangerous for tiny kittens, who may tumble down. Supervise them near steps and keep an eye on the weather. Check with your vet about caring for a young litter.
The Cavalier keeps watch, and the kittens look up at him as if he is the leader of the group. Evening settles in. A light turns on somewhere in the house, and the steps are warm from the day. It looks like the start of a long, quiet evening that nobody is in a hurry to end.
