The Sunniest Spot in the House Had Two Takers
The windowsill is white, the light is warm, and there are exactly two spots that matter. A cream point Ragdoll sits upright with her ears turned back and her blue eyes looking dreamily into the distance. Next to her, a golden puppy named Biscuit lies with his chin on the sill and his eyes shut, ears drooped, nose tilted toward the breeze. A white curtain hangs behind them, and the whole scene seems to glow.
Sunbathing is one of a cat's favorite pastimes. Warmth helps them relax, and a bright windowsill also lets them watch the outside world. Dogs enjoy a sunny spot too. Give your pets a safe, comfortable place to bask, and keep in mind that they can get too hot, so make sure they can move into the shade and have fresh water nearby.
If you have a window perch, check that it holds your cat's weight, and keep windows secured. Open windows and loose screens are a common cause of falls for pets, especially in upper floors. A puppy is not likely to climb up on a sill by himself, but he's often happy to rest his head near one with a friend.
For this duo, the sunshine is a shared blessing. The Ragdoll gazes out as if she is composing poetry, and the puppy is dreaming of whatever puppies dream about. It's a lovely way to spend an afternoon.
