A Big Brown Newfoundland and a Devon Rex Soaked Up the Sunshine
Sunlight falls across the wooden deck in warm stripes, and the two friends have sprawled in the best part. A big brown Newfoundland lies with his head resting on his paws and his gentle dark eyes half open. Close to his chest, a small cream Devon Rex sits upright with her oversized ears and her eyes shut in bliss. Beyond them, the garden shows a blue watering can and a weathered fence.
Newfoundlands are large and calm, with thick coats that are best kept cool in the summer. They love company and are often described as gentle giants. A dog like this will happily lie in the sun, but watch for signs of overheating, such as heavy panting, and make sure he has shade and fresh water.
Devon Rex cats have short, wavy coats and large ears, and they're known for being playful, people-focused, and a little mischievous. Their thin fur means they often seek out warmth, which explains why this one has chosen a sunny spot beside a big dog. A Devon Rex may need protection from both cold and strong sun.
The deck is warm and quiet, and the cat looks entirely comfortable against her friend's side. Sometimes the best afternoons have no plan at all. They are made of sunshine, a cozy neighbor, and nothing but time.
