A Blue Great Dane and a Siamese Cat Took Turns at One Big Bowl
Two long, thirsty drinkers have met at one bowl. A blue Great Dane lowers his huge head, his silvery gray coat shining and his ears drooping. Next to him, a seal point Siamese bends down to the bowl with her cream coat and dark mask, her blue eyes half closed. The steel bowl is wide enough for both, and the room behind them has a basket of laundry and a cozy throw on the sofa.
Great Danes are among the tallest dogs and can drink a lot of water. Siamese cats are slender, vocal, and social, often forming strong bonds with their people and other pets. Cats of this type enjoy attention and may even follow you around the house.
Sharing a bowl is usually fine, but it needs good hygiene. Wash the bowl daily with soap and warm water, and refill it often. Some cats like a separate, shallow bowl, or even a fountain, and may drink more when water is moving. If your pet's drinking changes suddenly, mention it to your vet.
Everyone gets a turn here, and no one is rushing. A very large dog and a very slim cat can sort out a bowl without a single squabble, and that sort of easy sharing is what makes them look so well matched. It's a small kindness, repeated at every drink, and it says a great deal.
