Morning Came Slowly for the Boxer and the Calf Under the Quilt

AI imageboxercalfquilt

A patchwork quilt has been pulled up to their chins, and two faces are just beginning to wake. A brindle Boxer on the left has his heavy, wrinkled face resting on the pillow and his eyes barely open. Next to him, Clover the calf looks out from beneath the quilt with a soft expression and her ears relaxed. The room behind them is full of everyday life, with a wicker basket, a few shoes, a dresser and a plant by the window.

Boxers are playful, energetic dogs with a reputation for being goofy and devoted to their people. They often stay puppy-like well into adulthood, so a quiet morning under a quilt is a rare moment of calm. They need regular exercise and plenty of attention, and they also tend to be sensitive to heat and cold because of their short coats. If your Boxer likes to burrow, make sure he has a warm, washable blanket. Waking up slowly beside a friend is one of the great pleasures in life for dogs, and the same might go for calves.

The morning light is soft, and no one is in a hurry. The Boxer and the calf blink slowly at the day while the quilt keeps them snug. It looks like the sort of lazy start everyone deserves once in a while.
