A Pug Stepped Into the Creek and the Calf Made a Big Splash

AI imagepugcalfcreek

Water flies in every direction as a fawn Pug and a young calf wade through a shallow creek. The Pug stands with wet fur and wide dark eyes, looking slightly startled, his curly tail and flat face dripping. Beside him, Clover steps forward with her pink nose low and her white-blazed face curious, kicking up a ring of droplets with each hoof. A porch light glows behind the trees, and the muddy bank looks rich and dark.

Pugs are not natural swimmers. Their flat faces and sturdy bodies make deep water risky, so a shallow creek like this is about as far as they should go, and only with supervision. After a splash, dry the Pug thoroughly, especially between the face wrinkles, since moisture left in the folds can cause skin irritation. Wet fur also makes any dog cool down quickly. Keep an eye out for slippery rocks and sharp debris in creek beds, and talk to your vet if you are unsure how much water play suits your dog's breed and age.

The calf looks delighted with the whole thing, and the Pug looks like he is trying to decide how he feels. Either way, it is an adventure the two of them are sharing, and a towel will be needed soon. For now, though, the splashing continues. Somewhere on the bank, a dry towel and a warm blanket are waiting for the moment the adventure ends.
