Somebody Left a Basket of Warm Towels. Two Sleepers Moved Right In.
A wicker laundry basket has become the coziest bed in the house. Piled with soft cream towels, it holds a sleeping chocolate Chihuahua whose chin rests on Clover's shoulder, and the little brown rabbit, tucked in beside her, looks half asleep herself. The bottle of detergent and the washing machine sit patiently behind them, and a pale morning glow comes in through a curtained doorway.
Dogs and rabbits both love a warm, soft nest, and a basket of fresh towels fits the bill. Warm, clean laundry holds heat and has a comforting scent, which is why you might find a pet curled up in it. Chihuahuas, being very small, lose body heat quickly and often hunt for warm places. If your pets nap in laundry, check the basket before moving it, and keep an eye out for loose threads and buttons that could be swallowed. Dryer-warm towels should be cooled to a pleasant temperature first. For any concerns about bedding, your vet is the best person to ask.
The sleepy pair look like they have been tucked in by a very careful hand. The Chihuahua's tiny paws are curled under her, and Clover has pushed into the nearest bit of warmth without a single worry. Whoever has laundry to fold is going to have to do it around them. Nobody will mind the delay. A basket this cozy is worth a few extra minutes of quiet.
