The Birman Wouldn't Budge. A Bunny Was Asleep Between Her Paws.
Between the big white paws of a seal point Birman, a small cream bunny is fast asleep. The cat's long, silky coat is the color of cream with chocolate points on her face and tail, and her face has a calm, slightly stern look as she keeps watch. The bunny's ears are tucked down and her eyes are closed in total trust. The wooden floor beneath them is warmed by the afternoon sun, and the background is a cozy tangle of baskets, slippers, blankets and houseplants.
Birmans are known for their long coats, deep blue eyes and sweet, gentle nature, and the white gloves on their paws are one of the breed's hallmarks. They tend to be calm and affectionate, which is part of what makes them good companions for quieter animals. A cat that lets a bunny nap between her paws is showing real comfort, but any pairing should always be supervised, because a startled cat or rabbit can lash out. Long-haired cats also need regular brushing, so loose fur does not end up in a rabbit's bedding or digestive tract. A vet can recommend grooming routines.
There is something deeply peaceful about the way the cat holds still. She looks like she would rather get a cramp than wake her small friend, and that is a kind of love you can read without words.
