A Very Patient Black Cat Became the Bunny's Climbing Hill

AI imageblack catlop-eared bunnyhallway

The black cat is stretched out on the floor like a rug, and she has no plans to move. Her yellow-green eyes look straight ahead with an expression of deep patience. On top of her, a cream lop-eared bunny has climbed up and settled at the top of her back, ears draping and eyes bright. The tiled floor is pale and sunny, and a basket of laundry rests by the doorway. Everything about the scene suggests that this has happened before and that the cat has accepted it.

Cats have a reputation for being picky about their space, which makes a tolerant cat like this one special. A cat that allows another animal to climb on her is showing a lot of comfort, but it is wise to keep an eye on body language. Flattened ears, a twitching tail or a stiff body mean a pet needs space. Rabbits should also not be allowed to jump from heights, because their bones are fragile. If your pets like to climb on each other, make sure that it stays gentle, and talk to your vet if either seems uncomfortable.

The bunny looks quite pleased with the view from up there, and the cat looks quite resigned to being a stepping stone. Somehow, both of them seem happy with the arrangement. It is a small act of trust that makes the whole hallway feel warm.
