The Orange Tabby Knew the Way Through the Wildflowers
The sky is turning blue as an orange tabby steps through a backyard meadow of tiny white and yellow wildflowers. Her ears are pricked and her green eyes are fixed on something to the side. Right behind her, a fluffy peach-colored lop-eared bunny follows with her ears hanging and her eyes round, looking a bit like a puffball on legs. A wooden fence, a few shrubs, and a house with a glowing porch light finish the picture, and the grass is dusted with dew.
Dusk is a lovely time for pets, because cats are naturally most active around dawn and dusk, and rabbits are described as crepuscular as well, which means they like the twilight hours too. That makes evening strolls a natural fit when the temperature is mild. Before letting pets wander in a wildflower patch, check the plants. Some flowers, like lilies, are very dangerous to cats, and others can irritate a rabbit's stomach. Supervision, a secure fence and a clean water bowl nearby make a short walk safer, and your vet can share a list of plants to avoid.
The tabby has the confident walk of a guide who knows every inch of the lawn, and the bunny trusts her completely. It seems a perfect little evening for exploring, with the whole meadow to themselves. They look ready for whatever the night brings.
