The Samoyed Closed Her Eyes. Five Ducklings Had Moved Between Her Paws.
A fluffy white Samoyed has her eyes closed and her head resting on the big white paws stretched out in front of her. Between those paws, a little yellow row of ducklings has snuggled in, pressed shoulder to shoulder in a snug line. The rug underneath is woven in blues and grays, and a room full of baskets, mugs, blankets and plants forms a soft blur behind them. The dog's thick coat looks like a cloud, and the ducklings look like small yellow flowers in front of it.
Samoyeds are friendly, gentle dogs originally bred in cold Siberia to herd reindeer and keep people warm. Their thick double coat sheds a lot and needs regular brushing. They are social and tend to want to be with their family, which can make them very affectionate with other pets. Samoyeds can be chatty and energetic, so exercise matters. Even a gentle dog can hurt ducklings by accident, so careful supervision is a must. Keep ducklings in a warm, dry brooder with clean water, and ask your vet for advice about introductions.
The Samoyed's closed eyes and soft smile give her a peaceful, motherly look. With the ducklings tucked between her paws, the whole room seems wrapped in a warm, fuzzy hush. It is a picture of calm that is easy to stay with for a while, and she clearly agrees.
